Nestled in the stunning Cederberg Mountains, Alpha Excelsior is a family-run working farm and guest retreat offering a unique blend of nature, heritage, and warm hospitality. Whether you’re here to relax, explore rugged landscapes, taste handcrafted wines, or discover ancient rock art, our farm provides an unforgettable experience.
Wine & Olives
At Alpha Excelsior, we craft everything by hand — from bold Rugged Rocks wines to small-batch extra virgin olive oil. Our Shiraz, Pinotage, and Cabernet Sauvignon are made with traditional, minimal-intervention methods and aged in oak barrels, while our Mission and Frantoio olives are hand-picked, brined, and cold-pressed right here on the farm.
Activities & Experiences
From world-class climbing in Rocklands to scenic hikes, refreshing swims, and peaceful farm walks, Alpha Excelsior is the perfect base to explore the Cederberg. This is where the succulent Karoo, Nama Karoo, and fynbos biomes meet, creating landscapes filled with wildflowers, birds, and wildlife.
Hen House Coffee Shop
The Hen House is our off-grid coffee shop and farm store, a favourite gathering place in Rocklands. Here you’ll find great coffee, fresh seasonal meals, home-baked treats (with vegan and gluten-free options), and free WiFi — all served with a relaxed farm atmosphere.
It’s also home to our little store, stocked with Rugged Rocks wine, olives, olive oil, and locally made gifts — perfect for a taste of the Cederberg to take home.
