A Taste of the Cederberg

Rugged Rocks Wine

Our Rugged Rocks wines are crafted with patience, tradition, and respect for the land. Each variety expresses the unique character of our vineyards: Shiraz is bold, spicy, and full-bodied; Pinotage, uniquely South African, is rich and earthy; and Cabernet Sauvignon is elegant, structured, and age-worthy. All our grapes are hand-harvested from our own vines and undergo wild fermentation, avoiding the use of commercial yeasts. The wines are aged in oak barrels to develop depth and complexity, with only minimal sulphur added to preserve freshness. We practice bentonite fining only, keeping the wines as natural as possible, and we avoid cold stabilization and filtration, leaving a light natural sediment that reflects the authenticity and integrity of each vintage.

Bold Flavour, handcrafted with care since planting our first trees in 2006, Alpha Excelsior has grown 6.5 hectares of Mission and Frantoio olives in the rugged soils of the Cederberg.

Boutique Olive Oil

The olives not bottled are cold-pressed in our own olive press to produce small-batch, boutique extra virgin olive oil. Known for its bold, peppery finish, our oil is the perfect companion for bread, salads, cooking, or simply drizzling over fresh farm produce.
