Alpha Excelsior began as a dream shared by Connie and Lizzie, who discovered the farm in 2003 and knew instantly it was home. Over the years, they transformed this once-neglected land into a thriving vineyard, olive grove, and guest farm — renaming it Alpha Excelsior, meaning “aspiring to something higher.”

Today, three generations live and work on the farm. Connie tends the vines and olives, farm maintenance and building projects while Becky and James manage the guest farm, Rugged Rocks winery, and The Hen House coffee shop — with help from their children, Emily and Sebastian.

Together with our dedicated team and a few beloved donkeys, dogs, chickens and cats we continue to grow, create, and share this special corner of the Cederberg with visitors from around the world.
