Rocklands Climbing & Bouldering

The Cederberg is home to Rocklands, one of the world’s premier bouldering destinations. With striking sandstone formations and hundreds of problems for all levels, climbers travel from across the globe to experience it.

Alpha Excelsior is central to most bouldering areas in the valley and pass.

Permits are required and available online.

We also offer crash pad and shoe rentals (50% goes to RAD) — let us know when you book.

Whether you’re here for a season or just to try it out, Rocklands is an unforgettable playground.

Swimming & Water Activities

Farm Dam: Swim, kayak, slackline, or braai on the little island.

Swimming Pool: Located near The Old Farm House, open 24/7 for cottage and farmhouse guests.

Hidden Waterfall: A short 20-minute walk from the farm leads to a wilder natural pool.

Perfect for cooling off after a hike or simply unwinding on hot summer days.

Farm Walks, Flora & Fauna

Stroll through vineyards and olive groves among sandstone koppies, where three South African biomes converge — the succulent Karoo, Nama Karoo, and Cape Floral Kingdom — creating one of Earth’s most diverse plant landscapes.

In spring (August–September), valleys burst with wildflowers while slopes showcase rooibos, proteas, and delicate fynbos. Wildlife abounds: dassies on boulders, leaping klipspringer, nocturnal Cape fox, and over 200 bird species including Verreaux’s eagles. Our farm animals — donkeys, chickens, and friendly dogs — add their own charm.

End your day with Rugged Rocks wine at sunset or stargazing under some of South Africa’s clearest skies.
