Quiet hours: Please respect the peace of the valley — no loud music, amps, or large speakers.

Mosquitoes: Common in summer — please bring repellent.

About Alpha Excelsior

Q: Where is Alpha Excelsior located?

A: Alpha Excelsior is located in Rocklands, in the Agter-Pakhuis Valley, just over the Pakhuis Pass near Clanwilliam, in the Cederberg region of the Western Cape, South Africa.

Q: What type of accommodation do you offer?

A: We offer self-catering farm-stay accommodation set on a working wine and olive farm. Our accommodation is designed for guests seeking a quiet, nature-based stay.

Q: Is your accommodation suitable for families?

A: Yes. Our accommodation is family-friendly and well suited to guests travelling with children who enjoy outdoor spaces and nature.

Q: Are you a working farm?

A: Yes. Alpha Excelsior is a working farm producing small-batch wine and extra virgin olive oil. Guests stay alongside vineyards and olive groves.

Wine & Olive Products

Q: Do you produce wine on the farm?

A: Yes. We produce small-batch wines on the farm, focusing on minimal intervention and traditional winemaking methods. Our wines are available to purchase on site and online.

Q: What wine varieties do you produce?

A: Our wines include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage, produced in limited quantities.

Q: Do you offer wine tastings?

A: Wine availability and tastings are offered on a limited and seasonal basis. Please contact us or check availability during your visit.

Q: Do you produce olive oil?

A: Yes. We produce extra virgin olive oil from olives grown on the farm, as well as table olives when in season.

Q: Can visitors buy wine and olive oil on site?

A: Yes. Our farm shop and coffee shop offer our wines and olive products for sale, subject to availability.

Q: Can day visitors visit Alpha Excelsior?

A: Yes. Day visitors are welcome to visit our coffee shop and farm shop during operating hours.

Q: Is there a coffee shop on the farm?

A: Yes. We have an on-site coffee shop serving coffee and light offerings for guests and visitors.

Q: How far is Alpha Excelsior from Cape Town?

A: About 3 hours from Cape Town by car.

Q: How far is Alpha Excelsior from Clanwilliam?

A: We are located approximately 20–30 minutes from Clanwilliam, depending on route and conditions.

Q: Is the road accessible with a normal vehicle?

A: Yes. The Pakhuis Pass is tarred; farm roads are gravel but suitable for all standard passenger vehicles.

Farm Rules & Guidelines

Fires only in designated braai areas or the Leopard Lapa.

Respect nature — no littering or damage to plants or rock art.

Visitors enter and use facilities at their own risk.

Children must be supervised near the dam and pool.

No unregistered guests without prior permission.

Please drive slowly and watch for animals and wildlife.
